The painting is one of three works depicting Pythia, Malczewski painted in 1917. This one is distinguished by wild daffodils in her hair. Pythia was a character of ancient mythology. She was the high priestess of the Temple of the Greek god Apollo at Delphi. She was also known as the Oracle of Delphi.
